Walmart has issued a voluntary recall of its Great Value brand Fruit Cocktail in Fruit Juice over concerns the product may contain lead.
The recall involves about 44,000 cans, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has categorized it as a Class II recall. That means the risk of health consequences is low, but not impossible. The practical takeaway is simple: check your cans and do not eat any that match the recall details.

What Class II means
FDA recall classes can sound technical. The FDA describes a Class II recall as “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
Even so, consumers should not eat the recalled products. The FDA warns “there are no safe levels of exposure to lead.”
Timeline
The FDA said the recall was issued voluntarily by Walmart earlier this month. The FDA classified the recall as Class II on Oct. 1.
What to do
- Check the can: Look for lot code 6FCB 04 C2263 and a Sept. 1, 2027 best-by date.
- Do not eat it: If your product matches those details, do not eat it.
